My worst day in school

I had an exam and I wasn't well prepared, so thought coming early would save a semester only to find that the exam was done 2 days ago but got confused with the issue of Monday & Wednesday, Tuesday & Thursday, exams. My bad!!

Choosing of Courses

 There needs to be a live guide on how to pick your courses as some new students may lack the knowledge of that they should pick that is in the Major and Minor they are studying. Some may find it very frustrating on being on a financial hold when they want to pick a course and eventually end up choosing classes in times they are not comfortable with. This has happened to me once and I think should be changed.

Slight Delay in The Stage

 On my way to school on Friday last week, I witnessed an accident that ended up causing a traffic jam for hours before police could come. This had me under a lot of pressure as I had a presentation to do but the school van was not at Safari  Park stage so I had to wait for twenty minutes for the van. This was a slight delay but i managed to be in class before the group presented. It would be very convenient if the van would be allowed to enter school and drop us off at our buildings to save the walking distance time used.

Commuting Problems

 The school provides a school van that helps students travel to the stage and back. There are two of them that alternate to keep things moving and this has helped me today as I was late to class. I usually walk to school from the stage and arrive on time but due to the traffic i found on my way to town from Madaraka I had to use and it was very cheap at 30ksh. It used to be 20ksh but due to the economic inflation occurring this had to be increased. I arrived ten minutes earlier and was able to finish my school work.

As USIU Students we are proud of whatever impact we are doing on the Community, Recently we traveled to Machakos County, where we identified a need and formed a Transformative community project that, was going to solve the need that was identified. I'm happy that I was a member of the community group that was formed.

Our community project was more than just a series of activities; it was a journey that brought together a group of individuals bound by a shared purpose. We learned that when a community comes together, incredible transformations are possible. The project instilled in us a profound sense of gratitude, humility, and a renewed commitment to making a difference. As we reflect on this remarkable experience, we are filled with hope and inspired to continue our efforts in empowering change, one community at a time.

TRAVEL

 The great Rift valley is famous for its enthralling natural beauty,it consists of escarpments, hot springs ♨️, geysers, mountains 🏔️ and plains . Recently as I was traveling back to school we passed through the Mau escarpment route found within the rift valley,it was one of the things that impressed me and on the othe hand I was afraid of the escarpment, because,the road 🛣️ passes in between a hill and a valley (escarpment).I was shocked because I always travel at night, but this was my first time travelling during the day, at least I caught a glimpse of the great Rift valley .

The struggle of research proposal writing

No one really talks about how much work Proposal writing is. This semester has been the most busy one I have had in all my years at USIU. Aside from tackling the numerous course units that I have, I had to struggle with writing my research proposal. The struggle began during the previous semester when my peers and I had to choose our supervisors. This was a choice of lecturers who welcomed us and helped us ease our way into university and those that are guiding us on how to finish strong and what the outside world looks like. Don't get me started on deciding what the research will entail. It was all fun and games until you landed the most strict lecturer as a supervisor. 

I really appreciate my lecturers and supervisors for doing a good job in guiding the students in choosing a viable research topic and beginning the writing process. Let me tell you, starting something is easy but finishing it is the real job. It came down to staring at my unfinished document day in and day out until the end of the semester. I salute all those students who have been able to finish their proposals and I will too.

USIU Africa Career Fair 2023

 This month, I got an awesome opportunity to engage with the various companies that came to showcase their products and opportunities in the Career Fair 2023. 

I'm glad that USIU is able to offer some of these opportunities to its students. Apart from the different companies, some students got the chance to sell their products from their small businesses and get some cash. 

The students sold food, perfume, clothes and fluffy dolls. VIVO energy, Tropical Heat, Cyber Shujaa, Unilever, NCBA bank and Optica, just to name a few, engaged with different students and faculty, sharing advice and business opportunities. 

Placement and Career services department really did a good job in organising this event. Even though the maandamano has caused frequent interruptions to physical attendance of classes, we got a day or two of the events. Thank you USIU for the great opportunity.

A TASTE OF SIRONI

 I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sironi Restaurant, located in two of the busiest buildings in school, making it a convenient spot for students. I had the opportunity to sample their breakfast, lunch, and dinner offerings, and here's my review of the experience.

For breakfast, I would rate Sironi an 8 out of 10. They served delicious chapatis and samosas paired with a delightful cup of tea. The flavours were authentic, and the portion sizes were satisfying. The breakfast menu offered a good variety, catering to different tastes and preferences. Moving on to lunch, I would give Sironi an 8.5 out of 10. Their fries and wings were excellent, with crispy texture and well-seasoned flavours. The lunch options were appetising, and I enjoyed the overall presentation and taste of the dishes. When it came to dinner, Sironi truly shined, earning a solid 9 out of 10. The rice and chicken curry were a perfect combination. The rice was cooked to perfection, and the curry had a rich blend of spices that made it incredibly flavourful. The portion sizes were generous, ensuring a satisfying dining experience.

One aspect to note about Sironi Restaurant is that it can be a little crowded, and there are only a few sitting spaces available. This could lead to some inconvenience during peak hours, especially if you're looking for a quiet and spacious environment. However, if you're willing to overlook this minor setback, you'll be rewarded with delicious food. Overall, my experience at Sironi Restaurant was enjoyable, and I would rate it a 7 out of 10. Despite the limited seating and occasional crowd, the quality and taste of the food made up for it. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the positive dining experience.

In conclusion, I would definitely recommend Sironi Restaurant to anyone looking for a convenient dining option in the bustling city. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner, they have a variety of delicious dishes to satisfy your cravings. Just be prepared for a bit of a crowd and limited seating, but rest assured that the food will make up for it.

Campaigns in USIU

 USIU students left people in awe after using expensive cars to seek votes during their student Leaders election campaigns.

ELECTIONEERING PERRIOD.

 A year has just come to an end and the student representative positions in USIU is in dire need of change. Several students have stood up and showed their confidence and interest in different positions in the student council to represent us. The strong groups have come up with their parties which include: TEAM MAMBA, TEAM FOCUS & TEAM OASIS. In each, need representatives for school of pharmacy and health sciences, school of humanities and social sciences, school of business, school of communication among others.

Recently, the teams have been conducting compaigns which left the entire country, Kenya 🇰🇪 in shock 🤯 🤯🤯, for the manner in which the students were doing their compaigns. They used luxurious cars and stuffs to conduct their compaigns and this caught people's eyes in the country wondering how rich students are, this was contrary to them considering how the real politicians in the country do conduct their compaigns.

Community service

 Taking part in community service has been the best part of my life as a scholar in USIU-A. It was such a wonderful and beautiful moment to get indulge in this work. We were thrilled to have made a smile in the children who needed our support in TOTAL REHAB CENTRE & CHILDREN'S HOME 🏡.
